2023 CSUMB Accounting Networking Event
Ken Cranstone (Associate Advisor), Katherine Woolever (Paraplanner), and Michelle Arroyo (Office Manager) attended the 2023 CSUMB Accounting Networking Event this year to speak with local students exploring career opportunities in accounting and finance.
The two-hour event took place on September 21, 2023 with record-breaking numbers: Over 100 students from CSUMB, MPC, Hartnell, Cabrillo, Gavilan, and Mission and West Valley networked with a growing community of over 30 firms. The energy in the room was filled with excitement as many students came eager to make connections, explore industries they were interested in, and discover new ones.
As veterans to the CSUMB Accounting Networking event, Ken and Katherine spoke to the students about their own roles at Integris and answered questions about the career pathways in financial services. They also spent their time speaking on the various skills needed to succeed in financial planning and wealth management.
When asked what topics the students were most curious about, Katherine said, “A lot of students wanted to know what Integris was, what we do, what a day in the life would look like, and what career opportunities we had coming up.”
“I remember being on the other end of the table making my foray into the financial world. It’s an intimidating experience, and I commend all of the students who are looking out for their own futures. The most meaningful part of the experience was seeing how much this event has grown over the last few years,” said Ken as he reflected back on the event.
Michelle, manager of the Integris Internship program, was able to offer an overview of the program training and share her perspective on the ideal qualifications to hopeful candidates. “I was honored to be able to represent such an amazing company, share more about Integris and speak about our upcoming career and internship opportunities,” said Michelle. “I think this event is incredibly beneficial for students, presenting them with opportunities they may not have known about otherwise (internships).”
Ken, Katherine, and Michelle enjoy supporting CSUMB’s mission to prepare students to contribute responsibly to California and the global community by providing transformative learning experiences in an inclusive environment.
