As an Advisor, Alex provides tailored investment and financial planning guidance to our clients, and this advanced credential further strengthens his ability to deliver thoughtful, tax-informed advice.

“We are thrilled for Alex having obtained this credential. It demonstrates a dedication to continued education that adds to Alex’s and our firm’s repertoire and translates to an enhanced offering for our clients – a win for everyone,” said Kevin Mahoney, Chief Operating Officer, Advisor, and Partner.

About the TPCP® certification

The Tax Planning Certified Professional® (TPCP®) program is a credential that recognizes professionals with advanced training in designing and implementing comprehensive tax informed strategies for individuals and business owners.

This credential is not a license to prepare tax returns or represent tax payers before tax authorities such as a CPA, so does not replace a licensed tax professional, and rather focusses on forward-looking long-term tax strategy as part of a holistic financial plan. TPCP® professionals have specialized knowledge in the real-world application of proactive strategies over the entire cycle of someone’s life, which include:

  • Planning during asset accumulation and during savings distribution
  • Maximizing the transfer of retirement, health care, and education accounts to effectively avoid distribution errors
  • Planning at death, divorce, and special situations
  • Planning issues exclusively related to small business owners, including IRC Section 1031 exchanges
  • Advanced estate and retirement planning, including withdrawal sequencing, Roth conversions, and Social Security

To earn the TPCP® designation, a professional must have at least 3 years of experience in financial planning, successfully complete the program’s three required courses on tax strategy, and pass a proctored 2.5 hour exam.

Once an individual has achieved the Tax Planning Certified Professional® certification, certificants are additionally required to complete annual continuing education and commit to upholding the college’s Code of Ethics and Procedures.
