Team Spotlight: Elizabeth Kevelin

We hope you enjoy getting to know Integris Team Member Elizabeth Kevelin a bit more from a recent sit down we had with her.

During the day, Elizabeth is an Office Assistant with Integris. She is the first person you see when walking through our doors and she works diligently to keep our office running smoothly. To learn more about Elizabeth’s professional background, please click here: Integris Team Bios. To learn more about Elizabeth outside of work, well, keep reading.

When we asked about a memorable childhood experience, Elizabeth shared that her mother placed her in swim lessons from a very young age because she herself had a difficult experience learning to swim as a child. Those early memories in the pool translated into a lifelong love of the water, from joining a summer league swim team in junior high, becoming a lifeguard in college, teaching her sons to swim at very early ages and finally becoming a certified USA Swimming Official while her sons competed in year round club swimming.

When discussing what she enjoys doing outside of Integris, Elizabeth can often be found spending time with her two sons, sewing, reading, or somewhere outdoors hiking, cycling, and volunteering at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

As for her bucket list, Elizabeth would like to take her mother to Paris and have a silver Porsche in the driveway.

To really see into someone’s soul you have to find out about their favorite forms of entertainment, which for Elizabeth are:

Movies: Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Strictly Ballroom and any dystopian science fiction movie.

Book: Carry on Mr. Bowditch by Jean Lee Latham

Music: Elizabeth has eclectic music tastes that cover most genres except country, punk, metal and goth-rock.

Sports: Formula One Racing is a new interest born out of her volunteering activities at Laguna Seca.

We asked about a funny quirk of Elizabeth’s, and while she says there are many, the one her sons find the most irritating is her “lack of humor,” which manifests in her inability to pick up on their sarcasm and dark sense of humor.

In parting, we asked Elizabeth for one piece of advice she would pass along, and she said, “Don’t be afraid of change. It is inevitable. Build into your financial plan room for changes. Jobs can change, retirement might come sooner or later than you have planned, and you might even decide to go back to school. Also, be prepared for the unexpected by setting aside an emergency fund.”
