Team Spotlight: Mike Leavy

We hope you enjoy getting to know Integris Team Member Mike Leavy a bit more from a recent sit down we had with him.

During the day, Mike is an Advisor, our Chief Investment Officer and a Partner at Integris. In addition to providing advice to clients, he oversees all investment management provided by the firm. To learn more about Mike’s professional background, please click here: Integris Team Bios. To learn more about Mike outside of work, well, keep reading.

When we asked about a memorable childhood experience, Mike fondly spoke of the time he spent with his father, working side by side to build their family home in Big Sur and embarking on a magical trip to Disneyland with his grandparents. Mike also reflected on his first jobs in his teens as a busboy at Ventana, and as head dishwasher at Nepenthe, both in Big Sur. These memories highlight the importance of family, hard work, and serve as a reminder to cherish life’s meaningful moments.

When discussing what he enjoys doing outside of Integris, Mike said he enjoys playing guitar, getting hooked on a limited series, and shopping with his wife, Susan, who has a vintage retail clothing business.

As for his bucket list, Mike would like to play slide guitar in a blues band. Mike is passionate about music and has a long list of favorite bands and musicians. Mike would also love to travel extensively in Europe!

To really see into someone’s soul you have to find out about their favorite forms of food and entertainment, which for Mike are:

Movies: Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Sting, Paris, Texas & all of Alfred Hitchcock’s films

Band: Muddy Waters, Charlie Musselwhite, Cake, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones

Food: Carnitas street tacos & steak sandwiches

Book: Narcissus and Goldmund by Hermann Hesse and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice

Sports: Mike says he’s not a huge sports fan but likes the Warriors

We asked about a funny quirk of Mike’s that his family would agree with – he can’t stand a dirty kitchen! His office on the other hand… maybe not dirty, but a bit cluttered!

In parting, we asked Mike for one piece of advice he would pass along, and he said, “Stay calm, be clear on what you can control versus what you can’t, and focus on the former…and remember that the headlines are trying to grab your attention, not educate you.”
