Team Spotlight: Alex Black

We hope you enjoy getting to know Integris Team Member Alex Black a bit more from a recent sit down we had with him.

During the day, Alex is an Associate Advisor with Integris. He provides advice to clients and assists lead advisors with client relationships. To learn more about Alex’s professional background, please click here: Integris Team Bios. To learn more about Alex outside of work, well, keep reading.

We asked about a memorable childhood experience, and learned that when he was young he witnessed another boy bullying his soccer teammate. Now, as a kid Alex was often picked on for wearing glasses and as a result developed a sensitivity for the mistreatment of others. He marched right up to the bully and told him to try picking on someone his own size. Although nothing further came of the interaction, he looks back on the memory as a reminder that sometimes all it takes is one voice standing up for another to make a difference.

When discussing what he enjoys doing outside of Integris, it’s all about sports and the outdoors. Whether he is surfing in Santa Cruz, golfing on a local course, hunting, snowboarding, walking his dog or spending time with his significant other, Alex enjoys being outdoors with the ones he loves.

As for his bucket list, Alex hopes to find opportunities to travel to Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, and Bali.

To really see into someone’s soul you have to find out about their favorite movie or TV series, band, book and sports team, which for Alex are:

      • Movies: Dumb and Dumber, Forest Gump and Happy Gilmore
  • Band: Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • Book: “You Can’t Hurt Me” by David Goggins
  • Sports teams: Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors and SF Giants

We asked about a funny quirk of Alex’s, and let’s just say that you might not want to share an office with him…. He regularly solves problems by talking out loud to himself!

In parting, we asked Alex for one piece of advice he would pass along, and quite simply he says, “Focus on the things you can control.”
